Looking Cheerful, 5 Anime Characters Have Tragic Backgrounds

Even though they always look cheerful, that doesn't mean that the person doesn't have problems. Some people are good at hiding their sadness so they always smile in front of other people.

Likewise with the five anime characters below, even though they have tragic backgrounds, they always hide their sadness behind their cheerful and optimistic nature.

Here are five characters who always look cheerful despite their tragic backgrounds. Check out the following reviews.

 1. Naruto Uzumaki (Naruto)

Anime fans certainly know what happened to Naruto. When Kurama rampaged through Konoha, Naruto's parents, Minato and Kushina, sacrificed their lives to seal Kurama into Naruto's body.
However, this did not make Naruto known as a hero. Instead, Naruto was ostracized and considered a threat because he had the Nine-Tails in his body.

Even though he was lonely, it was great that Naruto never showed his sadness to others.

In front of other people, Naruto is always cheerful and optimistic. In fact, not infrequently his optimistic nature spreads to characters who have the same background as him.

 2. Tanjiro Kamado (Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba)

Tanjiro is probably the most positive anime character ever. Despite facing many difficulties, Tanjiro always smiles and never thinks negatively.

Tanjiro comes from a simple family and he acts as the breadwinner of the family.

Even though he has to work to support his family, Tanjiro never complains and loves his family very much.

One day, his family was killed by a demon and one of his younger siblings was turned into a demon. Of course, the situation can make anyone desperate.

Even so, that was not the case with Tanjiro.

Tanjiro remains positive and he will fight to turn his brother back into a human even though it is almost impossible.

In addition, Tanjiro is also a character full of compassion. This is proven by him always apologizing and burying the demon he had killed.

3. Eri (My Hero Academia)

For some, having a Quirk might be a blessing.

However, for some, possessing a Quirk can wreak havoc. Eri possesses a Quirk known as Rewind. This Quirk can allow Eri to restore a state.

On the one hand, Eri can use this Quirk to heal wounds. However, on the other hand, Eri can also eliminate someone's existence.

When she first activated Quirk, Eri accidentally erased her father's existence. This made Eri abandoned by her mother so that she had to fall into the hands of Chisaki.

In Chisaki's hands, Eri is exploited to create a bullet that can wipe out Quirk. At first, Eri always looks gloomy.

Luckily, Deku and Mirio managed to return Eri's lost smile. After being saved by Deku and Mirio, Eri is always smiling even though her past is too bitter for her to remember.

 4. Shoko Nishimiya (A Silent Voice)

Just because she can't hear, Shoko often gets bullied at school. Not only do her schoolmates talk bad about Shoko, they also think Shoko is disgusting. Shoya Ishida is the worst person to bully Shoko.

In fact, it is not uncommon for Shoya to damage Shoko's hearing aid, which is quite expensive. Despite knowing that her schoolmates don't like her, Shoko actually just wants to be friends with everyone.

No matter how mean they treat her, Shoko always tries to befriend those who bullied her.

Unfortunately, the people who bullied Shoko can't see the goodness that Shoko has just because of her flaws.

If they could put aside Shoko's flaws, they would discover the fact that Shoko was a much better individual than them.

5. Koro-sensei (Assassination Classroom)

Having a cheerful personality, Koro-sensei always wore a smiling expression.

However, behind his smile, Koro-sensei harbors a painful past. Koro-sensei was born and raised in a place where no one can be trusted.

The environment eventually led Koro-sensei to become the number one assassin known as The Reaper.

After being caught, his body was used as an experimental material so that he turned into a yellow octopus.

Koro-sensei then fell in love with Aguri Yukimura who eventually died while trying to stop Koro-sensei from turning into a monster. Behind it all, Koro-sensei always gives fun lessons to his students.

The five characters above are great characters. Despite having a painful past, they always hide their sadness and spread positivity to everyone.

Hopefully the five characters above can inspire you to keep smiling, OK!
