Cyberpunk: Edgerunner, Successful Netflix Adaptation

Cyberpunk: Edgerunner, Successful Netflix Adaptation

This time I will discuss the adaptation of Cyberpunk into animation from one of the most hype games in 2020, Cyberpunk: Edgerunner which is a prequel to the game Cyberpunk 2077.

Cyberpunk: Edgerunner was announced at the beginning of the pre-release session of Cyberpunk 2077, for those of you who didn't play the game may also hear a lot of disappointment about the quality and stability of the game.

Now improvements are being made and people seem to have forgotten about this Studio Trigger project, but personally, the much more realistic expectations helped the perception of this anime.

The animation tells the story of how David Martinez became one of Night City's legendary runners, the death of his family, and the dwindling options to keep him alive led the teenager to become an Edgerunner.

Thanks to his compatibility with Cyberware, David can use the military-grade Cyberware he "borrowed" to start his career as a runner.

If you're asking if you can watch this animation even if you haven't played the game, I'd say yes, I would even say it's better to watch this animation first before playing the game because of its position as a prequel in the Cyberpunk 2077 story.

Cyberpunk: Edgerunner, Successful Netflix Adaptation

Although Netflix has a bad stigma in adapting series, I say their adaptation of the Edgerunner series is quite successful, quite brutal action will be presented in each episode of this animation, although gradually not as rough as the beginning of the episode, but casual nudity fanservice is pretty much presented.

Although it has a fairly clichéd storyline for the cyberpunk genre, I quite enjoyed the flow that this animation provided.

Cd Projekt was quite successful in making a character who had never held a gun before, into a character who was very good at battle.

For the ending of this animation itself, I am quite satisfied with the ending, but I'm sure there will be some people who don't like the ending of some characters in this animation, and you could say the ending of this animation is quite neutral, because like the reality of life in Night City, even though you already have strength and make a lot of friends, you must be willing to be stepped on by the cruel reality of the city.
