Harry Potter: List of Secret Rooms at Hogwarts!

Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, or Hogwarts as it is more commonly called, is the most famous wizarding school in the Harry Potter stories, both in the original novel written by J.K. Rowling as well as the film version are very popular among fans.

Besides having four main magic classes, such as Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin, Hogwarts also turns out to have several mysterious rooms and passages that can only be accessed by selected wizards.

So, in this article, we will discuss the most interesting secret rooms at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry!

Room of Requirements

In the Harry Potter stories, the Room of Requirement or Come and Go Room is the most mysterious secret room at Hogwarts.

This magic space that will only appear when needed is arguably a semi-illusory space because it has no fixed shape.

Where the Room of Requirement usually only takes shape after someone really needs it, whether it's as a comfortable place that can be used for studying or as a secret hiding place full of surprises.

This room was later used as a training ground as well as a hideout for good wizards who opposed Lord Voldemort in the Battle of Hogwarts.

Chamber of Secrets

The next Hogwarts secret room that not many people know about is the Chamber of Secrets.

As the name implies, the Chamber of Secrets is a secret room built by Salazar Slytherin, one of the founders of Hogwarts and a pioneer of the Slytherin class.

It is located under the school and can only be accessed via a hidden entrance, making the Chamber of Secrets difficult to find.

What's more, before leaving school, Salazar deliberately placed a female basilisk named the Serpent of Slytherin to kill people who didn't deserve to enter his room.

This secret room is a silent witness to the destruction of two of Voldemort's hocruxes called the Cup and the Diary.

Headmaster Office

The Headmaster Office is a secret room whose function has now been changed to the office of the headmaster of Hogwarts, namely Dumbledore.

The Headmaster Office is located in the tallest tower of Hogwarts and can only be accessed via a spiral staircase.

The headmaster's office is filled with magical items including the Sorting Hat and several portraits of headmasters before Dumbledore.

In it we can also find a phoenix named Fawkes who will continue to rise again even though he dies many times.

Apart from its function which is now more open, in the past the entrance to this room was deliberately hidden by one of the founders of Hogwarts' Godric Gryffindor behind a Gargoyle statue.

Room of Rewards

The Room of Rewards is a secret room that can only be accessed through a life painting of Vindictus Viridian which is located in the Grand Staircase of Hogwarts school.

Even though its existence is hidden, there is actually nothing special about the Room of Rewards in terms of function, because it only contains the achievements of Hogwarts students.

Curious Harry Potter once tried to enter the Room of Rewards, but was turned away by the Viridian painting.

The entrance was about to open after Hermione Granger scared off the Viridian painting with a ghost.

It was at this point that Harry and Hermione became the first of his class to make it through.

Undercroft

Undercroft is a secret room at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry which is often used by students to hold secret meetings.

This rather large room actually has a shape similar to a hall, only because it's rarely used by Undercroft it looks more like a huge storage warehouse.

The entrance to Undercroft can only be accessed through a hidden passage in the Turris Magnus, the largest tower at Hogwarts.

Considering that quite a number of students know of Undercroft's existence, it is possible that the teachers also know about it, but prefer to remain silent and let the students have fun.

Those are five secret rooms hidden in Hogwarts school of magic.

All of these rooms have proven that Hogwarts is a school full of secrets and surprises.

Starting from the Room of Requirements to Undercroft, it has indirectly added to the mysteriousness of the Hogwarts school which is basically shaped like an ancient castle.

Of course, by finding these secret rooms, it might be a source of pride for his students, including Harry Potter and his friends.
