Attack on Titan: 5 Things That Drive Eren to Start Rumbling

As we all know, Rumbling is the biggest event that has ever happened in the Attack on Titan series.

In this event, Eren Yeager used the power of the Founding Titan to unleash hundreds of thousands of Titan Walls and trample the world.

Of course, Eren didn't do this without a reason.

Eren had his reasons and there were several things that drove him to commit the genocide.

The following are five things that prompted Eren to start Rumbling. Check out the following reviews.

1. His obsession with freedom

Since the start of the series, Eren has been shown as someone who is obsessed with freedom.

Eren thinks that all humans have the freedom to live as they want and go wherever they want.

Living within the walls makes Eren feel that his freedom has been snatched away.

Eren thinks that living inside the walls is no different from livestock that are always locked up in cages.

Therefore, Eren hates Titans and he wants to eradicate Titans to reclaim the freedom of mankind.

2. His mother's death

Eren's first psychological change can be seen when he loses his mother. In the first episode, the Titans managed to break in and destroy Shiganshina.

The attack not only made Eren lose his hometown, but also his mother.

At that time, Eren was still small so he could do nothing but witness the death of his mother.

While Eren already hates Titans because he feels his freedom has been taken, Eren's hatred grows even more after seeing his mother being eaten by Titans.

3. Reiner and Bertholdt's Betrayal

The relationship between Eren, Reiner, and Bertholdt is indeed very complex.

At first, they were close friends in the Reconnaissance Squad. However, Reiner later revealed his betrayal. Reiner and Bertholdt are actually Marley soldiers sent to Paradis to steal the Founding Titan.

With this confession, it was revealed that Reiner and Bertholdt were also indirectly responsible for the death of Eren's mother.

That betrayal could be one of the things that inspired Eren to Rumbling.

Prior to his invasion of Liberio, Eren had said that he and Reiner were no different.

The two of them attack each other just to protect their hometown.

4. His knowledge of the outside world

After successfully going to the Yeager family's dungeon, the mystery about the world is finally revealed.

Turns out, Paradis is just a remote island isolated from world civilization. There is also advanced technology outside the walls.

When Eren and the Reconnaissance Squad arrive at the beach for the first time, Eren asks Armin if they will be free if they get rid of the enemy across the ocean.

It could be that it was the first time Eren thought about Rumbling.

5. The world's hatred of Eldian in Paradis

In the twelfth episode of the anime Attack on Titan: The Final Season Part 2, Eren and the Scout Squad go to Marley to seek peace through negotiations. However, the scene there turned out to be very depressing.

The Marleyans really hated Eldians, especially the Eldians who were in Paradis.

While they could tolerate the Eldians living in Marley, they cursed the Eldians who were in Paradis.

They even think that the Paradis are descendants of demons who must be responsible for the crimes of their ancestors.

Willy Tybur's declaration of war also made matters worse.

Now, the world not only hates Paradis, but also wants to destroy Paradis. Seeing a dead end, Eren decides to destroy the world first before the world can destroy Paradis.

On the one hand, what Eren did was extraordinary.

Basically, Eren just wants to protect his friends and hometown. Eren doesn't care if he has to destroy the world and is known as a criminal.

However, on the other hand, what Eren did was still a despicable crime.

Killing millions of innocent people is a grave, unforgivable crime. So, what do you think?
