One Punch Man: 10 Differences Between Manga & Webcomic Versions!

One Punch Man: 10 Differences Between Manga & Webcomic Versions!

Just like a series that has many versions, One-Punch Man also has various differences from each version.

For example, the manga and anime versions show quite a striking difference, where in the anime version of course a scene looks more dramatic than the manga version.

However, it turns out that there are also other differences in the webcomic version.

As is known, One-Punch Man is a popular series that originally came from a webcomic version of the story.

This version became the inspiration for various adaptations.

What is interesting is that what is presented in the webcomic version seems to have a significant difference compared to the manga version.

Then, what are the differences between manga and webcomic versions of OPM?

1. Fubuki is a cruel character

In manga and anime series, Fubuki is often shown as a strong character.

However, her strength level is still below that of other great heroes, an example being her own sister, Tatsumaki.

Although Fubuki has an arrogant and unpleasant attitude, she cares deeply for her subordinates.

In the webcomic version made by ONE, Fubuki is a much colder and crueler character.

In fact, Fubuki himself is shown to have no problem being able to face a stronger enemy figure like Psykos.

Although Fubuki doesn't have a leadership spirit in the manga version, in the webcomic version Fubuki is much stronger.

2. Much More Scary and Dark

One of the main things that made One-Punch Man manga appreciated by fans is Yusuke Murata's extraordinary art.

The character designs of both heroes and monsters are presented as attractively as possible, which results in very artistic results.

However, there is one thing that art does not have in the manga version.

The dark and scary side of the depiction of the monsters in the webcomic version is considered to give its own feel to the series.

The surreal and terrifying hand-drawn quality of ONE is considered to be something that has become the hallmark of the webcomic version.

For example, the monster version of Garou looks different between the manga and the webcomic, where the webcomic version looks more terrifying.

3. Different Villain Strengths

Some monsters and villains in the webcomic version are shown differently from the manga version.

The difference can be seen in the form of appearance (character design) or in the form of strength.

Garyuganshoop, one of the top brass of Boros, has a unique ability related to gravity control in the anime version.

Fuhrer Ugly, one of the strongest monsters in the monster association in the manga version, can be defeated very easily by Bang in the webcomic version.

Fuhrer Ugly also has a slightly skinny appearance, compared to the muscular version of the manga.

4. Tatsumaki is much weaker

In the manga version, we know that Tatsumaki is the number 2 strongest hero in the world.

Her telekinesis ability is hard to match.

However, different things are shown in the webcomic version where in that version Tatsumaki is not as strong as the manga version.

In the manga version, we see how Tatsumaki is able to lift a city with ease.

In the webcomic version Tatsumaki is considered a major threat.

Whereas in the manga version, she is actually considered a great hero.

5. Child Emperor is not an important character

In the fight against the monster association, it must be admitted that the role of the Child Emperor was extraordinary in helping other heroes.

In fact, he is considered as one of the important characters in the arc.

All thanks to the intelligence he has and the various sophisticated equipment in his bag.

His battle against Phoenix Man was a testament to the prowess of the Child Emperor.

However, different things are shown in the webcomic version, where in fact the Child Emperor is not such an important figure.

He plays more of a role as a figure who prepares or makes strategies for other S-class heroes, rather than directly participating in battles.

6. Class A Heroes Have Various Strengths

Some heroes of class A, although they don't have extraordinary abilities, they have much stronger abilities in the manga version than in the webcomic version.

Stinger, Spring Mustachio, the disciples of the Atomic Samurai are all shown to be able to defeat the enemy with ease.

However, in the webcomic version, even though they were A-class heroes, the powerful monsters could easily defeat them just like the heroes below their level.

7. Different Drive Knight Names

At the beginning of the webcomic series, Drive Knight had a different name, namely Engineknight.

However, the name was later changed which was reportedly done so that Japanese fans could more easily remember and spell it.

However, the real reason for the name change is never known.

Some fans themselves think Engineknight is a better name, even though it doesn't suit his character who is a cyborg.

8. Blast Not Introduced

Unlike the manga version, the webcomic version of Blast never actually appears in the story in the Monster Association arc.

In addition, in this arc also the mysterious black box that introduces the figure of God is not introduced.

On the other hand, in the webcomic version of this arc, the story itself focuses on the introduction of Garou, who turns into a monster.

This has also raised a big question among fans, whether Blast who appears in the webcomic version and the manga version is the same person.

Until his figure actually appears, the fans themselves still believe that Blast is actually Saitama.

It is still unknown how the webcomic will present the appearance of the Blast figure.

9. Sweet Mask is Much More Powerful

In both the manga and anime versions, Sweet Mask often overestimates his powers.

As a result of this, when he faced monsters like Fuhrer Ugly, Sweet mask could easily be defeated.

In fact, in one of yesterday's chapters, Fuhrer Ugly was shown to have seriously injured his body.

On the other hand, in the webcomic, Sweet Mask is a pretty strong character.

He was able to destroy the Black Sperm very easily.

10. Psykos and Orochi Don't Get Together

One Punch Man: 10 Differences Between Manga & Webcomic Versions!

One of the most epic and interesting battles in the manga so far is the battle between S-class heroes who face a combination of Psykos and Orochi.

After being defeated by Saitama and Tatsumaki separately, Psykos and Orochi then merged into one body which then made them turn into terrible figures.

It took the combined strength of Tatsumaki, Genos, Drive Knight, Bang, Bomb, and several others to then be able to defeat Psykos/Orochi.

However, in the webcomic version itself this never happens.

There is no combination between Psykos and Orochi after both are defeated.

The differences in the various versions of the medium give its own color to a series as popular as One-Punch Man.

With these differences, it doesn't actually make the series a failure.

This is precisely what makes the series interesting because fans can enjoy whichever version they like.
