Neuromancer Premieres on Apple TV+ — Callum Turner Leads the Cyberpunk Series 40 Years In the Making

The book that invented cyberpunk finally gets its show

William Gibson's Neuromancer — the 1984 novel that literally coined the term "cyberspace" and birthed cyberpunk — is finally getting a big-budget TV adaptation on Apple TV+, and it looks incredible.

What Comic-Con revealed

At San Diego Comic-Con 2026, Callum Turner — the BAFTA-nominated star of The Boys in the Boat and Masters of the Air — made a surprise virtual appearance to unveil the first teaser for the series. The trailer is action-packed, moody, and dripping with the neon-and-rain aesthetic every cyberpunk fan has been dreaming about for four decades.

The story

Newly fired and freshly toxic, Case — a washed-up console cowboy hacker — gets one last shot at redemption from a mysterious employer. His target: a super-AI called Wintermute inside the virtual reality matrix of cyberspace. Along for the ride is Molly Millions, a razor-nailed street samurai, in one of the most iconic partnerships in sci-fi history. Expect Gibson's trademark mix of high-tech heist and low-life grime.

Why this is a big deal

They've tried to adapt Neuromancer for decades — films, TV, everything — and it always fell apart. Apple TV+ getting it over the line is a genuine milestone, joining the streaming platform's premium sci-fi slate alongside other buzzy titles. This is appointment viewing for anyone who's ever loved Blade Runner, Ghost in the Shell, or Cyberpunk 2077.
