All of Us Are Dead Season 2 Sets a Netflix K-Drama Record for the Worst Reason — Fans Could Wait 5 Years

All of Us Are Dead Season 2 Netflix K-drama zombie series

All of Us Are Dead Season 2 Is Breaking a Record Nobody Asked For

Back in January 2022, All of Us Are Dead exploded onto Netflix and basically became the zombie K-drama that everyone could not stop talking about. Students trapped at Hyosan High, a terrifying zombie outbreak, and a cast of characters we genuinely cared about — it was the kind of show that made you binge all 12 episodes in one sitting and then immediately start complaining about needing Season 2.

Well, Netflix delivered. They renewed the show in June 2022, and Season 2 officially wrapped filming on February 18, 2026. So here is the good news: it is done. Here is the bad news: you are probably not going to see it until 2027.

The Longest Wait in Netflix K-Drama History

With Season 1 dropping in January 2022 and Season 2 likely not arriving until early 2027, All of Us Are Dead has set an unwanted record — the longest gap between seasons for a Netflix K-drama. That is a five-year wait. Let that sink in.

To put this in perspective, other big Netflix K-dramas had much faster turnarounds. Gyeongseong Creature and Alchemy of Souls both released their follow-up seasons in close succession thanks to solid pre-production planning. Even Squid Game, despite its insane global success, only took about three years between Season 1 and Season 2.

The production of All of Us Are Dead Season 2 has been a rollercoaster. Originally, Film Monster CEO Park Chul-soo announced that filming would begin in 2024 with a planned release in late 2025. But Netflix pushed the schedule to 2025 for a better production environment and higher-quality completion. Principal photography finally kicked off on July 23, 2025, and wrapped seven months later.

What to Expect from Season 2

Despite the agonizing wait, there is a lot to be excited about. The cast has been significantly expanded with new additions including Roh Jae-won, Lee Min-jae, Kim Si-eun, Seo Ji-hoon, Yoon Ga-i, Kim Min, Ahn Dong-goo, and Ryu Sung-rok. And yes, Park Ji-hu returns as Nam On-jo.

Season 2 is expected to move beyond the confines of Hyosan High School. The story will expand into the open world of Seoul, giving us a broader look at the zombie-infested landscape. The mysterious halfbies — half-zombie, half-human hybrids from the Season 1 finale — will finally get their story explored in more depth.

The returning characters will have to navigate a world still devastated by the zombie outbreak, dealing with the aftermath of the life-threatening events at their school. If the production timeline is anything to go by, Netflix is clearly aiming for something bigger and more ambitious than Season 1.

The Bottom Line

Five years is a long time to wait. But if All of Us Are Dead Season 2 delivers on its promise of expanded scope, deeper character arcs, and more jaw-dropping zombie action, it might just be worth it. The only question is whether fans patience will hold out that long — or if they will have moved on to the next big K-drama by the time it finally drops.

For now, we wait. And hope Netflix does not make us wait even longer.
