One Piece: Where's Garp Siding?

It seems that geeks certainly already know that the navy is one of the biggest forces in the One Piece story, apart from the Yonko and the World Government.

However, in reality, the navy is an instrument for the World Government.

They are law enforcers and become representatives of the World Government if later there is a mistake or crime.

So far, we still don't get much information about the navy. It is still unknown when the navy was founded.

However, seeing that the navy is an instrument of the World Government, we can assume that this organization emerged after the formation of the World Government about 800 years ago.

There are, of course, many differences between ancient and modern navies, especially in terms of principle.

Many think that the ancient navy was more principled, and they became an example of what an authoritative navy should be.

One living example that we can still see is Monkey D. Garp.

Garp has always argued that there is a clear distinction between today's and past navies.

The navy is now too firm on absolute justice or absolute justice, where they really uphold justice indiscriminately.

While some of the navy did not agree with it, because not all crimes must be seen from the perspective of absolute justice.

Garp and Smoker are aware of this, which is why they sometimes have respect for their enemies. An obvious example is Smoker who respects Luffy.

In addition to being too clinging to absolute justice, the navy now also tends to be "corrupt" where they seem to be able to control the World Government at will. They can't seem to move on their own.

This is what makes Garp disappointed with the navy, and decides to withdraw from the navy along with Sengoku.

Absolute justice has taken its toll, one of which is his favorite grandson, Ace.

This disappointment could also be the basis for the formation of SWORD, a secret organization belonging to the navy.

Garp Internal Conflict

After what happened in the Marineford war, where Ace had to die,

Garp was always in conflict with himself. On the other hand, he loves his grandsons Luffy and Ace very much.

However, on the other hand, Garp is still a marine who must carry out his duties. In truth,

Garp was not happy about having to work under the control of the heavenly dragons.

Garp decided to join the navy because he wanted to help the innocent.

Garp could actually have taken the same path as his son, Dragon, and then teamed up to overthrow the World Government.

However, we can understand why Garp decided to do it the other way.

Garp always believed that the navy should be independent, there should be no intervention from the World Government and the sky dragons.

This is also what he tries to instill in Koby and Helmeppo when he recruits and trains them.

Garp is one of the few navies to think differently from the majority in his institution.

Many people blame Garp for the events that occurred at Marineford that caused Ace's death.

They blame Garp for preferring to remain a marine.

However, from Garp's point of view, given the position and reputation he had, Garp had no other choice.

Garp Will Turn Against World Government?

Garp may be the "source" of one of Luffy's traits, which is his love of freedom.

However, Garp had been holding back all this time because he had to act according to the directives of the World Government.

Garp deliberately refrained for the sake of world peace.

How Garp asked King Neptune to continue to believe in humans for what happened after Reverie, is proof that Garp really cares about the peace of every race.

It's possible Garp – and Sengoku and several other marines – are actually waiting for something to change things from within.

The World Government has a lot of terrible things that have been hidden from the world. If Roger knew about it, then Garp and Sengoku knew about it too.

Just waiting for the right time to move.

It could be, in the final battle that many fans predict will be the most epic moment because the World Government will be the opponent, we will see how Garp will turn against them.

We will see what Garp's true identity is, and how Garp's true attitude towards the sky dragons is.

Garp may just want to destroy the existing system and other depravity, but not his organization. Because, he believed it could be a way of protecting people.

As in the previous article, in the final battle, maybe we will see how Dragon, Garp, and Luffy will fight together to destroy the World Government.

After that, they will start a new, better era in One Piece. What do you think, will this happen?
