Vertical Unveils 'Love Language' Trailer: Chloë Grace Moretz, Manny Jacinto, and Anthony Ramos Spark Rom-Com Chaos
Millennials yearning for the golden age of smart, emotionally messy romantic comedies have fresh reason to celebrate this autumn. Distributor Vertical has officially released the first trailer for Love Language, a witty, Chicago-set rom-com starring Chloë Grace Moretz, The Good Place standout Manny Jacinto, and Twisters star Anthony Ramos. Following its buzzy world premiere at the 2026 SXSW Film Festival, the film is scheduled to arrive in select theaters and on digital VOD platforms on October 23, 2026.
Written and directed by indie filmmaker Joey Power (After Everything), Love Language dives straight into the modern anxieties of millennial relationships, creative burnout, and unrequited history. The story follows Louisa "Lou" Klaussner (Moretz), an aspiring author grappling with a broken engagement who turns to an unusual side hustle: ghostwriting deeply personal wedding vows for paying clients. Just as Lou starts opening her guarded heart to Dash (Ramos), an unapologetically charismatic serial dater who challenges her cynicism, her personal and professional lives collide into pure chaos.
From Love Triangle to Unhinged Wedding Vow Rectangle
The complications explode when Lou takes on a glamorous new client, Olivia, portrayed by Isabel May (1883). To Lou’s sheer disbelief, Olivia’s fiancé is none other than Warren (Jacinto)—Lou’s long-lost college best friend and the unconfessed love of her life. Tasked with crafting tender vows that celebrate their union, Lou finds herself trapped in an escalating emotional minefield where lingering affection, romantic rivalry, and professional ethics collide against the backdrop of windy Chicago.
The newly unveiled trailer showcases the film's sharp comedic cadence and genuine romantic tension. Rather than relying on lazy clichés, Power frames the romantic entanglement as a four-way dynamic where every character's emotional insecurities are laid bare. Backing up the central trio is an exceptional millennial ensemble cast, including The White Lotus breakout Lukas Gage, Booksmart star Billie Lourd, and Saturday Night Live staple Chloe Fineman. The project is produced by Bert Hamelinck, Allison Hironaka, Ari Lubet, and SNL head writer Colin Jost alongside Jeff Grosvenor.
Why Millennials Are Ready for 'Love Language'
In an entertainment landscape saturated with superhero blockbusters and grim survival thrillers, Love Language delivers the kind of character-driven, talky charm that made 1990s and 2000s classics like My Best Friend's Wedding and When Harry Met Sally enduring staples. With Moretz providing grounded vulnerability, Jacinto bringing magnetic sincerity, and Ramos radiating effortless charm, Love Language looks poised to become a fall rom-com sleeper hit when it debuts on October 23.
