Marvel's New X-Men Movie Just Revealed Its Full Cast — And Adam Driver Is Playing the Villain

Marvel Studios X-Men reboot MCU movie

The wait is finally over, mutant fans. After years of rumors, casting leaks, and "insider reports," Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige took the stage at Disney's D23 Expo 2026 and officially pulled the curtain back on the MCU's new X-Men movie — and honestly? The lineup is wilder than anyone predicted. Directed by Jake Schreier (the guy behind Thunderbolts*), the film is simply titled X-Men and is locked in for a theatrical release on May 5, 2028.

And yes, the internet is still screaming about one particular casting choice.

The Full Mutant Lineup

Let's get straight to the good stuff. Here's who's joining the MCU as its merry band of mutants:

  • Adam Driver as Mister Sinister (aka Nathaniel Milbury) — the big villain
  • Christopher Abbott (Poor Things) as Professor X / Charles Xavier
  • Sadie Sink (Stranger Things) as Jean Grey
  • Kit Connor (Heartstopper) as Cyclops / Scott Summers
  • Samara Weaving (Ready or Not) as Emma Frost / The White Queen
  • Inde Navarrette (Superman) as Rogue
  • Maya Boyd, a Broadway breakout, as Storm / Ororo Munroe

Driver didn't even bother showing up in person — he appeared via pre-recorded video from a Pinewood soundstage and hilariously trolled the crowd by announcing he was playing Magneto... before correcting himself: he's actually Nathaniel Milbury, an alias of Mister Sinister. Kylo Ren energy meets Marvel's creepiest geneticist? Yeah, we're seated.

Wait — Sadie Sink Was Already in the MCU?

If you've seen Spider-Man: Brand New Day, you already caught a glimpse of this universe in motion. Sink's mysterious character was revealed at D23 to be none other than Jean Grey — meaning that autumnal bus ride at the end of the Spidey film was apparently heading straight to Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters in upstate New York. Sneaky, Marvel. Very sneaky.

The recasting itself is a clean generational handoff. Kit Connor steps into boots previously worn by James Marsden and Tye Sheridan, Maya Boyd takes over the weather goddess duties from Halle Berry and Alexandra Shipp, and Inde Navarrette inherits the role Anna Paquin made iconic back in the original Fox era. Feige also confirmed more casting announcements are still coming — so if your favorite mutant isn't on the list yet, don't panic.

So there you have it: a fresh-faced team, an A-list villain, and a director coming off a genuine hit. May 2028 feels painfully far away, but with a lineup this promising, the MCU's mutant era might just be worth the wait.
