Wonder Man Is Marvel's Funniest Show Since Guardians of the Galaxy — And It's Streaming on Disney Plus

Wonder Man on Disney Plus: Marvel's Most Unexpected Hit of 2026
When Marvel announced Wonder Man for Disney Plus, expectations were... let's say, measured. A show about a B-list Avengers character who also happens to be a wannabe Hollywood actor? Sounded like a recipe for disaster. Instead, Marvel delivered one of the most genuinely entertaining shows of 2026.
Why Wonder Man Works So Well
Starring Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Simon Williams / Wonder Man, the series takes a satirical look at Hollywood while delivering the superhero action fans expect. The meta-commentary on fame, franchise filmmaking, and the entertainment industry is sharp, funny, and surprisingly self-aware for a Marvel production.
Ben Kingsley returns as Trevor Slattery from Iron Man 3 and Shang-Chi, and his chemistry with Abdul-Mateen II is electric. Kingsley's Trevor is still the lovable, delusional actor, and pairing him with a superhero who's trying to become an actual actor creates comedic gold.
Director Destin Daniel Cretton (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Short Term 12) brings a distinctly grounded approach to the series. Unlike some of Marvel's more CGI-heavy Disney Plus shows, Wonder Man feels personal and character-driven.
How It Compares to Other Marvel Shows
In a year that's also seen the launch of Spider-Noir starring Nicolas Cage (which has been breaking streaming records), Wonder Man holds its own by going in a completely different direction. Where Spider-Noir is a stylish noir action series, Wonder Man is a comedy-drama with superhero elements — and that tonal distinction is exactly what makes the Marvel Disney Plus lineup feel diverse and interesting.
Other Marvel TV entries in 2026, including Ironheart and Vision Quest, have been solid, but Wonder Man has the kind of cultural buzz that only comes from a show that genuinely surprises people. It's Marvel's answer to The Boys — but with the MCU's signature charm intact.
If you haven't started watching yet, consider this your sign to add Wonder Man to your Disney Plus queue immediately. It might just be the most fun you'll have with a Marvel property this year.
