Harlan Coben's Thriller Gets the Netflix Treatment

Netflix is expanding its Harlan Coben universe with a limited series adaptation of "I Will Find You," and they've landed a major coup by casting Chris Evans in the lead role. The six-episode series marks Evans' first major TV project since wrapping up his tenure as Captain America, and it's a dramatic departure from the superhero genre that made him a household name.

Based on Coben's 2023 bestselling novel, "I Will Find You" follows David Burroughs, a father convicted of murdering his own three-year-old son. Five years into his prison sentence, David receives shocking evidence that his son might still be alive, setting him on a desperate quest for truth that unravels dark conspiracies and family secrets.

Star-Studded Cast and Creative Team

Joining Chris Evans are Emily Blunt as his estranged wife Rachel, who has rebuilt her life after the tragedy, and Mahershala Ali as Detective Marcus Green, the cop who originally investigated the case and begins questioning his own conclusions. The series is showrun by Nicola Shindler, who previously produced Coben's "Stay Close" and "The Stranger" for Netflix.

Director Charlotte Regan ("Scrapper") helms the first three episodes, bringing her distinctive visual style to this emotionally charged thriller. Coben himself serves as executive producer and wrote the pilot episode, ensuring his intricate plotting and signature twists translate effectively to the screen.

Why This Story Resonates Now

"I Will Find You" explores themes of wrongful conviction, parental grief, and the fallibility of the justice system—topics that have gained increased cultural relevance in recent years. The novel became Coben's fastest-selling book in the UK, spending 12 weeks at the top of the bestseller lists, and its adaptation comes at a time when audiences are hungry for intelligent, character-driven thrillers.

Chris Evans spoke about his decision to take the role in a recent Netflix press release, saying the emotional depth and moral complexity of David Burroughs offered him the kind of challenge he'd been seeking. This marks a significant shift from his action-hero roles, showcasing his range as a dramatic actor.

Part of Netflix's Coben Dominance

This adaptation continues Netflix's incredibly successful partnership with Harlan Coben. Previous adaptations like "The Stranger," "Safe," "Stay Close," and "Fool Me Once" have collectively been viewed by over 500 million households worldwide. The streaming giant has a multi-year deal with Coben that guarantees at least 14 adaptations of his novels.

What sets "I Will Find You" apart from previous Coben adaptations is its star power and increased budget—reportedly $8 million per episode, making it Netflix's most expensive Coben project to date. Filming took place across Manchester, London, and New York City, with production wrapping in March 2026.

"I Will Find You" premieres globally on Netflix on July 15, 2026. With Chris Evans delivering what early screeners are calling a career-best performance, Emily Blunt's emotional depth, and Coben's masterful storytelling, this might be the thriller event of the summer. Clear your weekend—you'll want to binge this one straight through.
