CinemaCon 2026 Recap: Avengers Doomsday, Dune 3, and the Blockbusters That Will Dominate 2027

If you are a movie fan, CinemaCon 2026 in Las Vegas was basically Christmas morning for Hollywood nerds. The major studios descended on Sin City for a jam-packed week of exclusive footage, casting announcements, and first looks at the films that will define the next couple of years. Here is everything you need to know from the biggest presentations.

Marvel's Avengers: Doomsday Steals the Show

Disney closed out CinemaCon with a bang, and the undisputed star was Avengers: Doomsday. The Russo Brothers returned to the director's chair, and the footage shown in Las Vegas featured Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom. The Marvel Cinematic Universe is clearly swinging for the fences with this one, and based on the crowd reaction at CinemaCon, it is going to be massive.

Disney did not stop there. They also unveiled opening footage from The Mandalorian and Grogu, the highly anticipated theatrical spin-off directed by Jon Favreau. Combined with Disney's nearly $2.5 billion domestic box office haul in 2025, the studio is looking unstoppable heading into the summer 2026 blockbuster season.

Spider-Man, Dune, Top Gun, and More

The rest of the studio presentations were equally stacked. Spider-Man: Brand New Day from Sony Pictures showed off new action sequences that have fans buzzing. Dune: Part Three - yes, Denis Villeneuve is actually making a third film - was teased with stunning new visuals from the desert planet Arrakis.

Tom Cruise was in the house to promote Top Gun 3. The Odyssey, Christopher Nolan's latest epic, also got a massive spotlight with IMAX footage that reportedly left the audience speechless. Warner Bros also showed clips from Disclosure Day, rounding out what was arguably the most exciting CinemaCon lineup in recent memory.

Not everything landed though - DC Studios received a less-than-enthusiastic response for its presentation, with some Hollywood trades labeling it the "loser" of the event. But with Marvel, Warner Bros, and Paramount delivering this much firepower, who really cares?

The bottom line: 2027 is shaping up to be an absolute monster year for blockbuster cinema. Save your pennies now, because your wallet is about to take a beating.
