Emmy Awards 2026: TV's Biggest Night Delivers Shocks and History

The 78th Primetime Emmy Awards air September 14, and the race is wide open. The Pitt (Max) is defending its Drama Series crown, Hacks (Max) is chasing history in comedy, and newcomers like Spider-Noir and DTF St. Louis have already cleaned up at the Creative Arts ceremonies.

The Frontrunners Everyone's Talking About

Noah Wyle anchors The Pitt as Dr. Robby, with the medical drama earning praise as the most gripping show on TV. On the comedy side, Jean Smart continues her legendary run in Hacks alongside Hannah Einbinder.

The limited series categories belong to chaos agents: Amazon's Spider-Noir, starring Nicolas Cage as a 1930s web-slinger, dominated the Creative Arts Emmys with craft wins, while HBO's satire DTF St. Louis surprised everyone with multiple trophies.

How to Watch and What to Expect

The main ceremony broadcasts live with red carpet coverage featuring Colman Domingo, Linda Cardellini, and more. Expect tributes, upsets, and at least one speech that breaks the internet.
