Little Brother on Netflix: John Cena and Eric André Bring Chaos in June 26 Comedy

Little Brother Netflix - John Cena and Eric André comedy movie 2026

Netflix Is About to Drop the Most Unlikely Comedy Duo of 2026

If you had told us five years ago that John Cena and Eric André would headline a Netflix comedy together, we would have assumed you were trolling. And yet, here we are. Little Brother is heading to Netflix on June 26, 2026, and if the trailer is anything to go by, this might just be the most chaotic buddy comedy of the year.

Directed by Matt Spicer — the same filmmaker behind the cult favorite Ingrid Goes WestLittle Brother pairs Cena's polished, buttoned-up energy with André's signature unhinged comedy in a way that feels like a recipe for glorious disaster. The script comes from Jarrad Paul and Andrew Mogel, and producer Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland, Venom) is on board. That is already a seriously impressive lineup.

What Is Little Brother About?

Cena plays Rudd, a highly successful real estate agent who has his life completely figured out — great job, loving family, the whole package. Then out of nowhere, he gets a phone call that his "little brother" has been hospitalized. The catch? It is not his actual brother. It is the kid he mentored through a Big Brother-style program two decades ago.

That kid is Marcus, played by Eric André, and he is every bit as chaotic as you would expect. Marcus crashes back into Rudd's life and promptly turns everything upside down. Cena literally says in the trailer, "He is not my actual brother" and "The timing on this could not be worse." Relatable energy.

Despite Marcus's erratic behavior, he starts winning over Rudd's family. Michelle Monaghan plays Rudd's wife, and there is a scene where André's character gives her some truly unhinged advice: "Our man is hurting right now. You might want to think about eating that ass." Yeah, this movie is definitely not playing it safe.

The Full Cast Is Stacked

Beyond Cena, André, and Monaghan, Little Brother features a strong supporting cast:

  • Christopher Meloni — you know him from Law & Order: SVU and Happy!
  • Ego Nwodim — former Saturday Night Live standout
  • Sherry Cola — breakout star from Good Luck to You, Editor-in-Chief
  • Caleb Hearon — comedian and writer
  • Ben Ahlers, Bryce Gheisar, and Pilot Bunch round out the ensemble

Cena himself admitted in an interview with Extra that staying straight-faced opposite André was nearly impossible: "They are only going to show the seconds that I was not laughing," he said. "I honestly think we play off each other very well. He has an incredible sense of humor, and I am a decent sounding board for that."

Why This Could Be Netflix's Big Summer Comedy Hit

Netflix has been investing heavily in original comedies, and Little Brother has all the ingredients for a viral hit. Cena's star power (fresh off Peacemaker Season 2 on HBO Max and upcoming films like Coyote vs. Acme and Matchbox: The Movie) combined with André's cult following from The Eric André Show creates a crossover appeal that is hard to replicate.

With Matt Spicer directing and Ruben Fleischer producing, the creative team clearly takes this seriously — which means the chaos is going to be well-crafted. Mark your calendars for June 26, because Little Brother looks like it is going to be one of the most talked-about Netflix releases of summer 2026.
