Stranger Things Turns 10: Netflix Drops VHS Special Edition, Complete Series Blu-ray, and More Surprises

July 15, 2026 marked exactly one decade since Stranger Things first premiered on Netflix — and the streaming giant pulled out all the stops to celebrate.

In a move nobody saw coming, Netflix surprise-released a VHS Special Edition of Stranger Things Season 1 on its platform. Created as an anniversary gift for fans, this retro remaster features authentic tracking lines, audio crackle, and all the grainy charm of a worn-out tape from the Family Video era. The Duffer Brothers joked on social media that they'd release a full-series VHS box set "if enough of you nerds watch it."

The Complete Series Is Coming to Physical Media — A Netflix First

On July 28, 2026, Netflix will do something it has never done before: release a complete original series on physical media. Partnering with Arrow Video, Stranger Things: The Complete Series arrives on Blu-ray and 4K UHD in the US and Canada (July 27 in the UK), packing all five seasons and 42 episodes across a staggering 25 discs.

The Deluxe Edition — priced at $249.99 (Blu-ray) and $269.99 (4K UHD) — comes loaded with exclusive collector's items: a Palace Arcade alloy-zinc token, a Hellfire Club patch and D20 die, five double-sided posters illustrated by Kyle Lambert, 25 art cards, a fold-out map of Hawkins, and a 148-page hardcover book featuring design sketches, storyboards, and writings from the Duffer Brothers and director Shawn Levy.

For those on a budget, the Special Edition starts at $199.99 and still includes all 25 discs with hours of never-before-seen BTS footage, bloopers, deleted scenes, cast interviews, and set tours.

Stranger Things: Tales from '85 Keeps the Upside Down Alive

If the physical releases weren't enough, Netflix has already confirmed that the franchise will continue with Stranger Things: Tales from '85, an animated series set in the same universe. While plot details remain under wraps, the show is expected to explore new corners of Hawkins lore — proving that even after five seasons, the streamer has no intention of closing the gate.
