Made in Korea 2 Hyun Bin K-Drama poster

K-Drama Fans Have Been Waiting for This

Fall is officially here, and September 2026 might be the strongest month for Korean dramas you’ll see all year. We’re talking about Hyun Bin back in action, Son Ye Jin bringing danger and beauty to Joseon-era Netflix, and some genuinely fresh premises that go beyond the usual romance tropes. If you’ve been binge-watching on Netflix or Disney+ like the rest of us, buckle up.

The Powerhouse Titles Everyone Is Talking About

Made in Korea 2 (Disney+, premiered September 9) returns with Hyun Bin reprising his iconic role as Baek Gi-tae, nine years after the first season. Last time we left him, he was a ruthless power-seeker taking on South Korea’s political machine. Now? He’s a powerful KCIA deputy director running a secret criminal empire tied to Japan’s underworld. It’s exactly the kind of gritty, ambitious storytelling that made Season 1 a phenomenon. Co-star Jung Woo Sung also returns as prosecutor Jang Geon-young, still hunting Gi-tae down. This is peak millennial TV fuel.

On Netflix, there’s the highly anticipated The Scandal, dropping all episodes at once on September 18. Son Ye Jin stars as Lady Cho, an incredibly skilled woman who doesn’t fit neatly into Joseon’s rigid expectations, while Ji Chang Wook plays Cho Won, arguably the greatest playboy in the entire era. But the real twist? Nana steps in as Hui Yeon, a young widow whose life gets tangled in their escalating lies. A period drama that feels surprisingly modern, complete with steamy tension and zero sugar-coating. This one might become the next Cream in the Coffee.

Where the Genre Goes Next

Beyond the heavy hitters, September has some quietly brilliant additions too. The Ordinary Jackpot (tvN, September 10) follows Lee Jun-hyuk as an ordinary office worker who wins the lottery but realizes money alone isn’t enough to fix his life. Yes, it sounds like another “wins lottery, life changes” story, but the early buzz says it actually lands its message with warmth and humor. Co-starring Seo Hyun-woo and Oh Dae-hwan, this one could become the comfort-watch gem of the season.

Then there’s A Love Other Than Yours (KBS2, September 12), starring Seo Kang-jun and Ahn Eun-jin as a couple celebrating ten years together who suddenly find their relationship shifting in unexpected directions. No exaggerated drama, just honest messy love. Think realistic couple therapy disguised as a romance. Also worth noting: Dive Into You (Channel A, September 26), a soul-swapping fantasy rom-com featuring Kim Jiyeon (Bona), Park Seo-ham, and Jang Se-hyuk. An actress swaps bodies with her twin brother after an accident and travels back in time trying to save her first love. High-concept, emotionally rich, and exactly the kind of wild premise millennials eat up.

All told, September’s lineup delivers something for every mood: political thrillers, historical romance, workplace comedy, grounded dating shows, and supernatural fantasy. Whether you’re team Disney+ or team Netflix, there’s at least five shows on this list worth carving out your Friday nights for.
